Interview with Micah

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Micah: No. I kept to myself for the most parts. you learn after being there a while who to stay away from.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Micah: Keep your mouth shut. Some inmates will try to start a fight because they are bored, but if you keep quiet they won't do anything.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Micah: No. I was in a 50 woman tank.

If you have a felony on you how long does it stay on your record?

So the interview is with a woman - my question is what other inmates are like in the male area? My brother is in there right now and I want to know if we should be worried about him.

I've heard that prison is a lot rougher of an environment than county jail - is this true in gregg county?

It isn't that it is rougher it's that they are often denied a speedy trial because of slow indictments. That with crowded conditions, the limited outside time and the failure to be adequately treated medically.
