Leisure Time

Interview with Micah

JM: What types of facilities were available to help pass the time?
Micah: All we had were a few board games and a TV. The TV had to be off at 10 PM.

JM: Did you have regular access to the entertainment or was competition fierce? Give details.
Micah: We all shared the games.

JM: Did you have a hard time staying in shape while in jail?
Micah: Yes. We had rec 2-3 times a week. Where we would go to a concrete gym for 30 minutes to an hour that had one basketball goals and was probably 20 yards long. With no sunlight.

JM: How often did you get to go outside? What did you do outside if you were allowed to? If you were not allowed to go outside what could you do for exercise?
Micah: We never went outside. It wasn't an option. The 6 weeks I was in I didn't see the sun.

JM: Did the jail offer church services? If so, what were they like and when were they held?
Micah: Yes. They were held on Sunday and Wednesday in the concrete gym and only a certain number of people could go. So if you weren't one of the first in line. You didn't even get to go to church.

when a felon has to be in court on an old charge and has been picked up 3 times for failure to report to probation officer--goes to court and it said the person was released and the letters on the report say LOJ what does that mean?
